Behavioral Competence Inventory (BCI)©

The BCI is a 106 item caregiver  report measure of the breadth of the  functional behavioral repertoire of older adults at risk for dementia.

The 106 items are divided into 7 separate sub-scales: Self-Care, Instrumental Activities of Daily Living, Memory/Orientation, Social Interaction, Compensates for incapacities, Behavioral Excesses, and Behavioral Deficits.

A previous study of 149 out-patients attests to the reliability of the BCI scales, demonstrating that they show adequate internal consistencies and represent seven overlapping but distinct constructs. (Go to the poster presentation on the BCI© study)
